Home Health

How Healthy is your Home? Is Safety a factor?

Have you ever noticed when the young couple announces the arrival of their first child – The house gets an over haul for ‘child safe’ products. . . A few years later you find the usual ‘octapus legs’ hanging off the electrical outlets.

OR just how much of your ‘stuff’ becomes ‘junk’ when it’s time to move to the New House!

We really don’t think about our home health and safety, unless it’s a special event.

Everyday living – we breathe the air in our homes ~AND ~ the things in our homes, effect the air we breathe. Why not ~ ‘live in a new house’ with ‘baby safety’ ~ all the time!

ELECTRICAL JUNGLES – A major cause of fire and waste of electricity and your money on the power bill!

Plug bars with flip switches ! Turn off the power when your not using the items plugged into the bar. Ghost current runs continually. Overloading plug ins actually causes over heating of the outlet and wires. Older units are especially more hazardous.

Safety switches – safety hooks on cupboard doors? There are some places you should keep protected from anyone who should venture into your home. {No one likes to think about the friend’s child/teen that might choose to explore under your sink or in your medicine cabinet}

BATTLE THE DUST BUNNIES! ~ Cleaning has to go deeper than doing dishes and picking up the misc. laundry and taking out the garbage! Please don’t forget to do deep in the bathroom as it is the most used next to the kitchen.

Furniture needs to move and the earth underneath ‘stirred up’. Carpet needs a vacuum and floors need a mopper! Unique and unpleasant things grow in corners and under furniture! Even in cushions of your favorite chair! if your not careful.

Windows need washed and window ledges need wiped down. Cabinet facing needs a wiping every now and again. Move those appliances on your counters and see what’s collecting for itself underneath.

Dishes might be clean when you put them in the cupboards, and food is fresh going into the fridge…. But dust and ? enter and exit each time you open the doors. A day spend wiping things down – helps reduce the number of insects that feel “you’ve just invited them to dine regularly on your crumbs”. Things drip and sometimes spill. A good wipe out of the fridge before you go grocery shopping ensures the environment will be clean and fresh for your foods.

CLUTTER & HOARDING -A major health and safety factor in the home,, that fails to receive the attention it should!!

The amount of basic dust, dirt and moisture that accumulates daily – compounded by weeks, months, years. Then add the variables – water damage, contamination from outside sources………..

Sitting there being stored? in the same space sharing the air you breathe daily……

Think of all the paper, cardboard, cloth and other elements – just sitting there. Packed up against walls and possibly over vents and heat ways. What if there was a fire? Electrical wires can cause fires – you don’t have to be a smoker!

How fast would it burn and could you find your way out of the clutter to escape?

Why is being a pack rat a bad thing?

We get so busy with life that where we live becomes a dumping ground rather than a HOME. We find ourselves getting tired more often, or feeling unsatisfied in our surroundings. Not so interested in having company over and perhaps noticing, they don’t want to come over as often. We’ve often lived there so long, that we don’t even notice for ourselves – just how much has accumulated around us. Our eyes, nose and other senses have adjusted to the odors, we don’t notice the smell that has clung to us as if we were a cigarette smoker – a pudjent odor ! offensive to others.
